What and awesome summer of fishing we have had this year! 2011 brought us one of the best and longest Dolphin (Mahi-Mahi) seasons we have seen in years. Numbers of fish in the 25lb to 50lb range put many of our anglers to the test. With most of our charters averaging twenty or more fish per trip. There was plenty of action for everyone....and some tasty table fare to go with it.

Now fall is upon us, bringing with it some of the best fishing Key West has to offer. Moderate Northeast breezes sound the alarms for many species of fish to make their way to the Florida Keys.

Fall also brings the beginning of the Ballyhoo run. Giant schools of baitfish congregate on the reef creating an all-you-can-eat atmosphere for predatory fish. Many different species such as Sailfish, Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, King Mackerel, Grouper, Mutton Snapper, and Yellowtail Snapper dine on these plentiful baitfish. Live bait fishing with Ballyhoo is our specialty.

Sailfish have already started showing up off the reef... And they are hungry. This is a great sign, and a good indicator of a plentiful run of these fish. As the water temperature on the reef lowers, many deep water species come to shallower waters to feed. Wahoo, Blackfin Tuna, and King Mackerel are a very common catch when targeting the outer edges of the reef. This also brings many reef species to shallower water. Grouper, Snapper, Barracuda and Cero Mackerel are very plentiful and give anglers non-stop action especially on light tackle. Fall is an exciting time of year... Let's Go Fishing !!
